Inclusion includes you too!
Once upon a time, a young girl was eager to play with her friends. Traditionally, they created several adventures throughout the neighborhood which bonded them. Her friends were unique, and she appreciated them for who they were. During her playtime, her mother called her home to inform her that they would be ordering pizza. Dr. Davis invited all of her neighborhood friends. With a smile and rather perplexed, her mother ordered another pizza. Hence, the tagline originates from Dr. Davis's reflection on her youth. In her mind, inclusion includes you too!

Skiing for the first time May 2019.
When I (Dr. Gerilyn Davis) went skiing for the first time in May of 2019, the experience transformed my life. I learned a lot about myself on that day. The biggest takeaway was my ability to fear-less with each fall I made. I realized then that I could do this. I could help this industry. While on that mountain, I knew I had to develop Inclusion on the slopes.

As an inclusion consultant, Dr. Gerilyn Davis has crafted the SWORD Inclusion system as a segment of Inclusion on the slopes based on a proven methodology that leverages a strength-based, system thinking, and integral psychology approach to equip individuals and organizations on their inclusive journey.

Strength-based approach
The Strength-based approach values the uniqueness of each individual. Strength is the ability to consistently provide near-perfect performance in a specific task. We all have them and can use them to create inclusion.

Integral Psychology
Integral psychology is the ability to honor and embrace every legitimate aspect of human consciousness under one roof. Dr. Davis uses countless psychology methodologies to create an environment for inclusive practices to become developed and sustained.

Systems Thinking
Systems thinking is a way of making sense of the complexity of the world by looking at it in terms of wholes and relationships rather than by splitting it down into its parts. Dr. Davis uses system thinking as an opportunity to create systems of inclusion.
Here's what clients are saying about
the SWORD Inclusion System
"I was thinking it was DEI, it is so much more than that! This process was different, and I thought it was really good. I personally learned a lot. I began thinking with a newer lens.”
- Board Chair
"We are used to one-and-done training. Having a constant connection is important when trying to
create relationships. The other light bulb is using strengths that I wasn’t seeing as a tool for inclusion. It
is a massive tool for teams. When you think about it from that lens inclusion is so approachable."
- Outdoor Industry President
"The process displays how diversity shows up in different ways that we never even think about -
I began to witness how this will unfold. What you are going to feel and what will come out of this
process is the influence on your organizational structure. It was so liberating. I love that it
challenged my way of thinking."
- Outdoor Industry Marketing Executive
Why I Do It
When I think about the moment I came to Colorado, I was overwhelmed by the beauty of snow. When I went skiing, I fell in love. I wanted my family to experience this feeling of being on the mountain. I uncovered in my research that the sport of skiing passes down from generation to generation. Parents teach their children, and their children then develop into the sport. Ironically, I uncovered that it is the family that creates the experience. Hence, I knew I felt compelled to share it with my family.
My niece is now asking to go skiing again (we went for the first time in Dec. 2020). We went to Echo Mountain which was at a cost-effective price of $56 a ticket. I rented our gear from Mountain Threads at a very reasonable price and rented our skis from Larsons. In total, the experience was less than $500 per day. We had a ball. My vision is to share my know-how with others. My why is for everyone to be open to the snow experience and to be an inspiration for generations to come.
